Jewelry Bags

Last night I went to a friends house to sell some Knitting Chair creations. She invited several other people to sell their stuff and then ask us to invite anyone that would be interested to come. Well, it was a very nice evening.  I learned more about what people love to buy.  Besides my jewelry bags I made several dryer balls for fun and people loved them also.  They were also interested in hats.

So, planning for next year will be more productive. I know where to spend my time.

Also, another friend who makes jewelry asked if she could take the rest of my bags and sell them at the next few craft fairs that she will be at.  Her jewelry line is call SweetPiece. Very pretty stuff.  She uses alot of pearls and sparkly jewels and they look very nice in my jewelry bags.

This is one of my favorites
It went to a very good home!

Scaphoid Surgery #3

This time Tim"s surgery was less evasive.
Dr. French(new surgeon, new ideas) did arthroscopic surgery to inject some of Tim's stem cells into the scaphoid bone.  He took the stem cells from his left hip bone with a syringe and stuffed them into the bone.  This way there was no incision to heal up on his hip or his wrist. He also put in three pins to stabilize the bones around.  Last time the right hip had 6 staples and was  more painful than the surgery itself but this time it was only a pin hole  he doesn't even notice.
Holes where the pins are

so this is the latest cast.  Needless to say he's not happy.
this will be on till sometime in January and then he will have a shorter cast until....
who knows

First Sign of Snow

Driving home from the skytrain station today it was raining with snow mixed in.
They say we are going to have a cold winter but so far it has been a no coat fall for me.
I look forward to snow and hope that we have some snowed in days this year.
I was trying to find a picture of snow for this story but there aren't any from 2009.
That was the year of the Olympics so of course it was a very mild winter.
I did find this picture although its a bunch of years ago.

I have spent alot of time taking pictures and making items for my  Etsy store.  It has been a lot of hard work. Just when I thought I should quit this nonsense and spend more time on other things   I started to sell. Just a little mind you but it felt like my efforts were paying off abit.

Oh my goodness!! I cannot believe the excitement when I see that someone has bought some of my creations!  I just want to go back into my workshop and make more!!!

Well, maybe the excitement wears off I don't know and I hope not but in the meantime I can hardly sleep!

Some of the items that are selling are a surprise to me.  I thought they would be the last to go really don't  know.  Mmmmm...

I had a birthday yesterday and honestly two weeks ago I was sure I was turning 53. I suppose its not such a big deal after 50 until you get close to 60. Not really sure. But it was a great day. What did I do all day? Well, I ate and I talked to many people that I love. Thats all. It was awesome.

A few months ago John bought me a bike for my birthday. Actually, we both bought a bike at the same time.  Mine new and his 2nd hand.   It really is nice to do the same activity as him.   His legs being way longer than mine that limits somewhat what we can do together enjoyably.  Biking together is enjoyable.
He still wanted to get me something for the actual day,
hence the note on the flowers.

French Knot Bags

I tried something new with embellishing.  The French Knot.  This is almost like painting with  tiny dots.  I really like how it looks.  sorry the pictures look really washed out, the purse is actually pure black and the french knots are many shades of green and purple. grrr.. oh well you get the idea.

After bringing the Jewel and French knot bags away I was asked to make some roses like the ones on one of the jewel bags:

here are the 10 roses.....don't they look like little brains?
big brain!!!

carpel tunnel

finally,... the last carpel tunnel
the right hand was such a success that i decided about a year ago to have the left done. so this past monday it happened.   all along i was thinking that all the handwork that i was doing was the reason things went bad doctor says some people are more prone to this.
having thyroid disease doesn't help.  not one particular event or activity contributed.  yeah,  no more guilt.
this time i know what to expect.
the hardest part so far is putting on my seatbelt in our van and doing up my bra.
having my right hand available is great.

Oregon 2010

Second summer at the coast of Oregon.
Went with some girlfriends and our kids.
he just walked right up to our campsite
the Oregon coast has some amazing scenery.
This was just outside of Canon Beach

 the surfer babes
 did lots of crocheting
this dune screamed out "climb me!"
I literally had to crawl up, but I made it !!
In BC there is a campfire ban but in Oregon we had a fire every night

It was alot of fun hanging out with just the girls.  We ate Maxine's amazing food,  shopped in  thrift stores, surfed, played in the water and did alot of exploring.  It was very relaxing.

Peace Keeper In Indonesia

My father-in-law finally received his medal today for keeping the peace in Indonesia after WW2. Japanese people living in remote areas of Indonesia were unaware that the war was over and so, many soldiers were sent to protect the Indonesians.   No more fighting was necessary.
I'm so proud of him!!
