Windy Day at Mud Bay

Today is the day after Boxing Day and everyone seems tired of partying. The sales were not that great this year in the electronic division. I'm assuming that those days are gone. We used to get up early boxing day morning and go stand in line to get the best deal ever on some electronic devise. It was fun because my brother and his family would stay over night Christmas day and then would get up really early the next morning to stand in line to get that great deal. I think those days are gone. My oldest D looked at the flyer from a store in town and saw an MP3 player for a great deal. She did not want to get up early and stand in the cold so she went on line the day before and bought it for the flyer price from the same store. This is progress I guess. There goes all that excitement!!! So My Hubby and I went for a walk in the mud flats. It was windy and fresh. A nice trail except its to close to the highway for part of the trail. Because of its beauty and freshness it doesn't seem to matter.

Dog Mountain on Christmas Eve

On Christmas Eve we went to a local mountain to hike the Dog trail. It was a beautiful sunny day and so we ceased the opportunity. DH took his snow shoes along and the rest of us had hiking boots. It was so much easier climbing on the snow covered trails compared to the roots and rock trail in the summer. It was like a fairy land walking through the forest with snow covered trees.

Having fun in the snow

Smooth snow covered trails

Unbelievable beauty

Reaching the end of the trail

Oh, by the way, I was knitting the whole way to the mountain and actually took my knitting in my pocket as we were climbing. I thought if I had a chance I would knit more on my Chevron Dishcloth. I really like this pattern. jimsyldesign.com/dishbout/kpatterns/chevron.html

Felted Bag

This bag is very popular. At least once a day I have someone comment on it. At one time I was at my local bakery and she loved my bag so much I agreed to make her one. It was fun. I soon realized that it's almost impossible to charge a fair price to the creator. The baker did pay me but if I would have charged her for the time plus the materials it would have been twice as much. Somehow this didn't really bother me since I really enjoyed making the bag.

Fresh Snow on the Valley Mountains

Driving into the valley to visit my Dad I saw these amazing mountains. It had been raining and raining and raining. When the sun partly came out it produced this awesome beauty!!!

Many Mini Mittens

These are the tiniest mittens I've ever made. I made the first mitt with four needles and found it very frustrating. So I decided to use two circular needles just like you do with socks. It made a difficult project easier. They are kind of addictive so I made several pairs for friends.
Aren't they cute?

Christmas Rewind

This was a 20 minute play about the Christmas Story. All the characters were portraid with a todays character voice such as Mafia, surfer dudes, doctor evil and sprinkled with alot of humour. Fast paced and a load of fun. I was the Narrator and told the story with some irritation towards the characters. I haven't done anything like this since College days, so it was about time I guess. Fun!!!

Blueberry Fields Forever

These are the Blueberry fields in the winter. Around here the blueberry season has exploded and many fields have sprung up everywhere. We even have a Blueberry Festival. I love blueberries. They make awesome pancakes, muffins, smoothies, and eaten right from the freezer like candy.

300 candy bags

My friend Lisa buys candy just after halloween when it's 1/2 price. She buys a ton of it so she can make goody bags for kids at Christmas. I went to her house and helped her put these bags together. When she started making these bags there was only a need for 100. Now its up to 300. It was fun putting them together. I would have knitted them all a pair of socks but I ran out of time. Besides, I had surgery so technically I should not be knitting. So... never mind.

I used some Buffalo wool that I bought at the local Value Village.

Austermann Step Monkey Socks

These are the last socks I made before I had hand surgery. I must say, they are my best yet. I love the Monkey pattern. It makes a very pretty sock and fun to knit. I got the pattern from Knitty.com. I made these for my daughter who worked at Manning Park Resort. She needed something pretty and warm.

EV is hoping for a snow day but I don't think it will happen.
Days like this I just want to curl up with my knitting and listen to some good music or watch a movie. Darn, I still can't knit, but music and a movie will do, I guess.

Everytime I sit down the cat jumps on me

I don't know where she comes from but she just comes to sit or I should say stand on my lap. She doesn't snuggle much. She usually stands or walks across. She walks all over the keyboard never touching a key only trying to distract me. How does she do that? Oh by the way her name is Josie. She entertains us on Sunday morning when the family is sitting in the living room having coffee and scones. When you rip paper her eyes just light up. She loves to crawl under newspapers and attach it. She then quickly pretends to be uninterested ...like now...

I love the world of blogland

I love the world of blog land and have enjoyed getting to know people all over the world. It feels kind of weird knowing something of them but they know nothing about me. I read blogs mostly dealing with knitting and I really enjoy the beautiful pictures and color that some people are able to capture. This brightens my day.

Right now I am not suppose to knit because I have had Carpel Tunnel surgery on my right hand . I need to wait another three months before I can knit. I cannot believe how hard it is to wait for this. I have been bad and knitted some but have paid for it with a sore hand the next day. I am glad that I had the surgery. It was a success!!! I can now hold a cup of coffee, read the newspaper, drive, and sleep without my hand going numb. There is probably more that I can do but haven't had the chance to try. I'm sure I will be able to knit without have to shake my hand every few minutes to get the feeling back into it. The recovery is a bit longer than I had anticipated and waiting to knit is frustrating but it is worth it.
